Stephen Drover (Directing)

Originally from Newfoundland, Stephen is a Vancouver-based director and teacher. As Artistic Director of Pound of Flesh Theatre he has directed or co-created The Bond (an original adaptation of The Merchant of Venice), Macbeth, the multi-company outdoor morality play Everyone, an extended staged reading of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (co-produced with Pacific Theatre) and is developing a new adaptation of Hamlet called DenmarK. He holds a BA and BFA (Memorial University) and an MFA (UBC). He regularly teaches and directs at Douglas College & Memorial University and works as a freelance director. Favorite directing credits include PolitiKo (Ghost River Theatre, Calgary); Orphans (Wink Theatre, Vancouver); Skydive (Realwheels) for which he won a Jessie Richardson Award, The Patron Saint of Stanley Park (Arts Club Theatre), Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Guild Theatre, Whitehorse), The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (Carousel Theatre), The Pillowman (Wild Geese). He is the recipient of the 2007 Ray Michal Award for Outstanding Body of Work by an Emerging Director.
