Dance/Choreography

The Dance/Choreography Mentorship program will bring together a group of six young dance artists who are interested in exploring the choreographic process. Together, they will work with three world-class mentors (Josh Martin, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, and Amber Funk Barton) in order to bring new work to the stage. This work can be collaborative, solos, brand new, revisited work… it is entirely up to the group to determine what they want to bring to create.

Along the way the participants will meet with some of the city’s top arts administrators and industry professionals for skill building workshops in areas such as media relations, grant writing, and professional dance standards. These workshops are specifically designed to assist young artists who want to pursue a career in the arts.

The program culminates in a showcase at The Cultch, one of Canada’s premiere dance venues, to an audience of their peers as well as prominent members of Vancouver’s dance community.

The IGNITE! Dance/Choreography Mentorship Program takes place every Saturday from 3-6pm from March 3 to May 30, 2012.

Applications are now being accepted. Deadline is February 15th.  Please find more information here.
